Pre-Orders Launching for RuneScape Board Game and RPG

RuneScape, the long-running free-to-play MMORPG, is getting an analog adventure adaptation. RuneScape Kingdoms is the upcoming board game, launching alongside RuneScape Kingdoms: The RolePlaying Game. These are coming from Steamforged Games, a team well-known for adapting popular IP to board game form. If you’re a fan of the online MMO franchise, then you’ll likely want to check this board game out. Luckily for you, pre-orders are going live now.

Created in collaboration with Jagex, the publisher behind RuneScape, RuneScape Kingdoms: The Roleplaying Game was first announced back in January 2022 and is soon getting its big release. The core book will launch its pre-order in late September, alongside the board game. In addition, there will be a luxury Collector’s Edition of the roleplaying game available only from Steamforged as a direct exclusive. Both the book and board games take place in Gielinor, the fantasy land of Runescape, and challenge players to take on quests and challenges.

The roleplaying game uses a bespoke system created specifically for RuneScape Kingdoms, featuring a three d6 dice mechanic. In the board game, 1-5 players will take on cooperative campaigns inspired by iconic quests from the video game. On top of taking on foes, they’ll also craft, collect resources, and enjoy other exciting tasks central to the game’s core experience. Steamforged always adapts these experiences well, and I hope that holds true for this release.
