Since it was announced, I’ve been intrigued by the concept of Don’t Nod Entertainment’s latest game, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. The concept of two lovers, separated by death, joining forces to protect the world from darkness and avert their own tragic fate is different than their previous offerings. A new trailer seems to shed light on the gameplay ahead of its November 7th release date.

Focus Entertainment and Don’t Nod also revealed with the release of this extended gameplay trailer that pre-orders for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden are now available. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, so you can pre-order on all of those platforms now. In case you’re not aware, here is what Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is all about according to the press release.

In a world where the souls of the departed roam, you play a couple of Banishers. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are experienced spirit hunters, entrusted with the daunting task of lifting a malevolent and ominous curse. After an ill-advised attack, Antea is killed, leaving her lover in solitude and profound despair. Torn between their vows to protect the living from malicious spirits and the nightmare of Antea’s condition, they’ll wander the eerie wilderness of North America to liberate her from her new plight… whatever the price.

Enter the lives of New Eden’s communities in a world plagued with supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. Combine Antea’s spiritual powers and Red’s mighty arsenal to defeat and banish the souls that torment the living. Uncover secrets, navigate mysterious landscapes, and meet memorable but tormented characters whose fates rest in your hands.

Heavy decisions will lie on your path as you decide the fate of New Eden’s inhabitants—be they living people or wandering souls—dramatically impacting your story and the challenges you’ll face. Will you honor your Banisher oath, or sacrifice the living in a desperate bid to bring your beloved back?”

This extended trailer showcases the seemingly fluid combat that switches between Red and the spectral Antea. It also shows off the choices that take place as the two attempt to help people across North America. It seems that depending on your choices, Antea may or may not be resurrected as Red wishes. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden looks very interesting, and I can’t wait to check it out on November 7th, 2023.
