Street Fighter 6 was released at the beginning of last month. I’ve had a blast playing it since the launch just like many others, working towards higher ranks and unlocking new outfits. Although it hasn’t even been two months yet, it’s already time for the first DLC character to be added to the roster. We’re expecting four characters to be added, but this first one is the master of the turbulent wind himself, Rashid.

Fans of Street Fighter V are sure to recognize this character. He made his debut in the title and had a prominent role in its’ cinematic story mode “A Shadow Falls”. Perhaps more importantly, he’s also likely remembered for being a rushdown monster who used his wind-based attacks to keep the offense coming. He wasn’t just someone affecting the lower ranks either. He was a key part of the game’s meta and commonly ranked at a high tier throughout its life.

While it’s a bit too early to say if he’ll have the same presence in Street Fighter 6, we know that he’s looking to be just as brutal. Rashid players from the previous game will recognize quite a few of his techniques that have been repurposed into his new movelist. Of course, he’ll also have quite a few new tricks up his sleeve in addition to the universal game mechanics. Just like the other returning characters, he’s also coming back with a brand-new look. Anyone who wants to play with his previous default costume, complete with the Dragon Ball Z-like scouter, can do so by unlocking his second outfit.

Rashid is now available in-game for those that have access to the Year 1 Character Pass or the Year 1 Ultimate Pass. You’re still in luck even if you don’t have those though, as any Rental Fighter Tickets you’ve accumulated can be exchanged for one hour of playtime with the character.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
