Exoprimal, Capcom’s third-person science fiction shooter that pits soldiers in armor against hordes of dinosaurs, is only a few days away from its release. While there have been plenty of trailers and events that went over what’s included, as well as some betas that have allowed players to check it out, a final special showcase livestream was held just yesterday. It included a new trailer as well as additional information on various modes.

The launch trailer seemed to show more about the various factions at play in the story, including what could be the main antagonistic force aside from the known Leviathan A.I. that’s behind the War Games. It’s a bit hard to glean what exactly the story will entail since this involves different timelines and dinosaurs, though. Hopefully, that just means there will be plenty for players to discover.

Story progress will be rewarded as you go through the standard Dino Survival mode, which will pit two teams of five against each other in competitive matches as they scramble to complete PvE objectives first. Sometimes the teams will directly fight each other or work together against bigger objectives.

Due to player feedback against the PvP fights, a new feature was implemented where players can choose what kind of final mission they want in Dino Survival: PvP, PvE, or Random. The latter provides a small experience bonus, but the others are for player preference.

The season content will also follow traditional three-month periods. The first season will introduce the Savage Gauntlet mode two weeks after launch, while the first title update will launch on August 16th with 10 Alpha variant exosuits. Season 2 is set to begin in mid-October along with Title Update 2. This will include the previously announced Street Fighter 6 collaboration content as well as a host of additional content. Season 3 will start in January 2024 and will feature a Monster Hunter collaboration in addition to Beta Exosuits and a Neo Triceratops enemy.

Exoprimal certainly looks like it will have a lot of support and the first step begins when it launches later this week. It’s hard to say whether it will keep players engaged, but launching as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass certainly shouldn’t hurt. For a look at the short showcase, check out the livestream below.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
