As everything becomes more digital, the popularity of physical versions of entertainment has become something that has seen ups and downs. However, this change in the way we buy entertainment has made the collecting community even more diverse and expansive since some titles are hard to come by or impossible to get in physical form. With this in mind, I thought that it would be interesting to go through some games that deserve to have a new physical release. Some of these games have had physical copies sold in the past, while others on the list have never been sold in a physical format before. Let’s look at just five of those games.

1: Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force

Released on September 15th, 2000, Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force is deemed by many to be one of the greatest Star Trek games to ever come out. While this game had a physical release since digital platforms weren’t very prominent yet, it has been quite a long time, and the game has never seen any physical re-release. In fact, the game seems to only be available on purchase through used copies on Amazon and as a digital copy off of GOG.com. The graphics of the game haven’t aged all that well, but I imagine that there are still plenty of people who would be willing to scoop up a new physical copy of the game.

2: Castle Crashers

One of the greatest co-op games to have come out in the 2000s, Castle Crashers is the second title from The Behemoth and helped to solidify the company in the gaming industry. Featuring four-player co-op and hand-drawn graphics that still hold up to this day, Castle Crashers is a must-have game for everyone. Surprisingly, it has never had a physical release. Considering how many consoles this game has been ported to, it seems like a missed opportunity. Let’s just hope that one day we can get one or at least a physical collection of The Behemoth’s games.

3: Amnesia: Collection

The game series that put many YouTubers on the map, especially one Pewdiepie, Amnesia: Collection has never had a complete physical release. The original game had one back when it was released in 2010. Since then, every game in the series has had a digital-only release. The Amnesia: Collection, which features the first game, the Justine DLC, and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is currently available on all current generation platforms, yet has never had any sort of physical release. Considering the popularity of the series and with the fourth game right around the corner now would be a great time for such a release.

4: Star Wars Battlefront II (2005)

While Star Wars Battlefront II of EA’s creation has left a sour taste in a lot of players’ mouths, Star Wars Battlefront II from Pandemic Studios was a great addition to the already fantastic collection of Star Wars games that we have had over the years. While this game is still rather popular on Steam with Multiplayer servers still being run and even some players having competitive games, Star Wars Battlefront II could be ripe for a reawakening through a physical copy re-release. The only problem would be getting all the legal checkmarks on such a thing to happen.

5: Zoombinis

The educational game of my childhood, Zoombinis was a weird learning game where you have to lead a group of these unique creatures across a dangerous landscape in order to escape a dark fate. While there have been a few different games with each having slightly different titles or names of certain things within the game, the entire collection would make sense to bring back in a physical format as a form of nostalgia for kids who were born around that time. It would also be a great way to reintroduce the learning challenges that the game brought to a whole new generation of children.

Those are just a few of the games that I thought of, but I would love to hear what games you would like to see new physical releases of. Let me know what they are in the comments below and I will look into them for a future article!
