I love seeing games that merge beloved genres with other genres I enjoy. Sanctuary Saga is a good example, merging Turn-Based RPG combat with a Roguelite progression system. I haven’t played Sanctuary Saga yet, but I’m intrigued. The dev team is rewarding players (and their curiosity) by providing the early stages of an updated roadmap of what is to come.

Sanctuary Saga was released on March 8th, and after feedback from the community, the development team has nailed down its plans for the immediate future. Here is what the press release has to say about upcoming patches.

Looking towards the future, Developer Boomer’s Workshop has pulled together players’ feedback to make sweeping changes to Sanctuary Saga. Part of the game’s upcoming 1.1 update will include ways to speed up the game’s beginning prologue so players can get into the action quicker. There will also be more chances for players to gain treasure! Patch 1.2 brings adjustments to the skills system and various changes to the expedition maps.”

You can currently purchase Sanctuary Saga for $14.99 if you want the standard edition or $19.99 for the deluxe edition. The deluxe edition comes with costume skins for your characters, so they can dress up as various monsters while you play and explore. Purchasing the deluxe edition also gets you access to Sanctuary Saga’s soundtrack. If you haven’t heard of Sanctuary Saga yet, here’s the general premise according to the press release.

In Sanctuary Saga, players take on the role of guild leaders, each with their own unique stories and abilities as they embark on a quest to explore the land of the Untamed Wilds. Composed of four diverse biomes from lush forests to the haunting Scrublands there is much to explore. Each of these locations also comes with its own set of challenges and enemies to scuffle with. Players must even conquer powerful bosses and mini-bosses during their travels.”

Boomer’s Workshop and V Publishing seem to have a lot of plans for the future of Sanctuary Saga. I love seeing Roguelites get sprawling updates, and there are plenty of games that benefitted from it, like Dead Cells. The developers have also suggested that anyone wanting to provide feedback can do so in their discord server, so you can help shape the future of the game. I’m very excited to check out Sanctuary Saga myself, and it looks like it is worth the investment.
