Sonic Frontiers is Getting a Big Update Tomorrow

Sonic Frontiers launched last November and within the same month had already put out a content roadmap for 2023. It consisted of three free updates that would be released over the year. The first update, titled “Sights, Sounds, & Speed”, is coming quite soon and it’s bringing a ton of new content that is sure to make fans happy.

It can be presumed that the Sights part of the update is related to the new Photo mode being added. Players will be able to access it from the pause menu, which will bring up a moveable camera to take pictures during the paused gameplay. With an available framing grid and seven filters to choose from, there should be a lot of fun photos to take during Sonic’s open-world adventure.

The Sounds aspect of the update is a nod to the Jukebox mode. There are a lot of things that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is known for, but it certainly can’t be understated just how beloved its music has been. 53 songs are being added and yes, that does include Crush 40 songs from the Sonic Adventure set of games. Some tracks will be available immediately, while the others need to be unlocked with collectible Sound Memories in the shape of Orange music notes. These can be found throughout each island.

Sonic is all about Speed so that naturally alluded to the new gameplay modes coming in the update. New challenge modes will be available for those that have already completed the main story. The first is a time-attack mode called Cyber Space Challenge, and the second is a timed-battle mode called Battle Rush that includes stages with enemies and Titans alike. The update is set to go live tomorrow at 5PM pacific. While we don’t have a set date for the second update, we do know that Sonic’s birthday is supposed to be a part of it. Considering that his birthday falls on June 23rd, we just might see the next update in three months.
