Love is in the air for Video Horror Society as the game has begun its Valentine’s Day Event titled “Eat Your Heart Out.” Over this eight-day event already underway, players will get new items by logging in every single day: these items range from emotes to cosmetics to a special omen for your special monsters. During this event, the store will be stuffed with various other items that are Valentine’s Day related that you can give to your characters. So far, I have seen Angel Wings cosmetic for the Teens, an Exposed Heart cosmetic for the Werewolf, and Glowing Heart Shaped Glasses for the Teens in the shop.

Keeping with the tradition of events within Video Horror Society, there are two new movies that you can get in the game. Coming from the unique minds of Faith and Leo, My Fur-Ever Love and My Fur-Ever Love Part 2 each come with new challenges, cosmetics, and bits of lore for players to unlock. There is both a free and paid edition of both movies, each with its own unique rewards. The rewards in the paid edition give off heavy Care Bears vibes, however, they do get a bit demented once you get to Part 2 as Leo gives his own unique spin on Faith’s Valentine’s Day movie.

Beyond the holiday event, the developers have decided to drop a few new features that are geared towards increasing the Monster player count and decreasing the amount of time spent finding a match. The first feature is a Quick Matchmaking game mode that will allow players to jump into games quicker at the cost of having the game choose which character they will play as. This is designed to fill in the gaps that can cause queue times to take between 5 and 30 minutes. From my experience, this does seem to be working as my queue times are only taking about 2 to 8 minutes.

The other major feature is Danger Sense, which will give Monsters an indicator of if they are about to be ambushed by Teens. This works by changing the Monster’s reticule when an armed Teen is within 15 meters of a Monster. While this will cause Video Horror Society to become more difficult for Teens, it will not give the Monster the ability to know which direction the Teen is. This will mean that communication and teamwork amongst the Teens will be more crucial. Nonetheless, a speedy Teen on their own could also get the work done depending on where the Monster is. Time will tell how much this changes the balance of Video Horror Society.

There is one feature for new players, which is a tip system that will allow players to learn the game on the fly. This will most likely end up shortening the learning curve that comes with Video Horror Society.
