Baseball is a sport that is largely diminishing in its mainstream sway. For years, odd choices in the game’s marketability have drawn younger fans away from the MLB. Luckily, one of the few things that catches eyes in 2023 is coming back again with a huge star gracing its cover. I’d argue MLB The Show is one of the most successful marketing tools the MLB has, and it’s also a killer sports series that’s playable on all three major console families. The athlete for the cover of MLB The Show 23 was revealed, and I think it’s safe to say the development team and MLB nailed this year’s selection.
As written by developer Sony San Diego Studio, “Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s electric personality, play, and love for all things baseball made him a great choice to be on the cover of MLB The Show 23.” Easily one of the most entertaining young stars in the MLB, the Nassau, Bahamas native will definitely be a player non-superfans come to know in future years. As a huge fan of this game series, I’m a fan of the choice, particularly because Chisolm is the type to attract new fans to Baseball.
Launching March 28th, you’ll have the option of a few versions of the game. The Standard Edition will go for $60 USD on PS4 and Xbox One, with a $10 upcharge for the new-gen versions. The game will release again on both generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as the Nintendo Switch. If you plan on picking up the game on more than one platform, don’t stress. Cross-Platform Play, Cross Saves, and Cross Progression return allowing you to share your progress on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Pre-orders for the game will go live on February 6th, which might be the time to try reserving a copy of the beloved Collector’s Edition. Sony San Diego Studio plans to release more info on this version later in the week, so keep an eye out! As an Xbox-dominant gamer, I’m thrilled again to see MLB The Show 23 come to Game Pass on day one. I purchase the game every year, but it’s amazing to see people without that deep love of baseball playing the game and enjoying it.
I’ll be sure to cover more on MLB The Show 23 so keep reading for more updates provided down the line.
