Forspoken has been a game with many eyes on it. Plenty of people are interested simply because it’s a new Square Enix game. Some are curious due to it being supported by some of the same team members that worked on Final Fantasy XV as well as the same engine. Lastly, the negativity surrounding it (partially fueled by horrible marketing) has intrigued those who want to see if this will be an unexpected underdog or a trainwreck. No matter which group you’re in, if you have a PC you’ll now be able to try out the game before deciding to purchase it.

A new post on developer Luminous Production’s website announced that a demo has been released on PC platforms today alongside the full game’s launch. The demo is the same one that was released on PlayStation 5 last month. Although the reception to the initial demo was mixed, the developers did listen to the feedback and even updated the demo to address some of the issues.

Those who download the demo will be able to partake in a short quest chain while experimenting with the traversal and combat systems. The best reason to download the demo will be to see the performance. If all of the particle and lighting effects weren’t enough to tip you off, the recommended specs were revealed last week along with touted PC features and it should come as no surprise that a decent rig is needed to run the game at its best.

When it comes to Forspoken itself, it has released to middling reviews. Although the demo only represents a small snippet of the overall experience, it should serve as a great way for players to test how the game runs on their PC and whether they even like how it plays. The demo can be downloaded on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
