Since Thursday afternoon, there has been a strange and unspoken feeling in the air. No matter your opinion on the role of the Royal Family, there has been a sweeping change that some thought they might never see happen. I even made reference to that change in the review of Sunday Gold, a game set in a far-flung London in disarray due to economic disparity and the ever-present crime syndicate of Kenny Hogan. Well, it seems sports, games showcases, and every journalist’s plans weren’t the only thing canceled over the weekend, as game releases are too.

Monday morning we were sent a short email basically stating that the embargo will continue to lift at 1 PM (BST) on Monday, Sunday Gold will just be delayed. We, however, didn’t get a reason for this delay in the email provided. According to a Facebook post by Bkom Studios, the only place where this detail appears, the reason for the delay is: “Given the current situation in the United Kingdom, Team17 and BKOM Studios have made the decision to delay the launch of Sunday Gold to Thursday 13th October.”

Personally, I can’t understand this supposed need to delay, cancel, or simply stop doing something as a result of one individual dying. Mourn, yes, but not everyone is going to be and as is evident by online comments recently, some are celebrating. Whether you believe it is right or wrong, it was a decision taken by those at Bkom Studios and Team17. Hopefully, with this extra time available, the easier-to-fix concerns raised by many reviewers can be addressed and make the wonderful yet flawed experience of this stylized turn-based, point-and-click more refined.
