Art is a beautiful thing. It can mean different things to different people, and it can allow you to express things that words just aren’t strong enough to express. Despite its short length, Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery shows that art can take many forms.

Behind the Frame is an interactive point-and-click piece of fiction, created by Silver Lining Studio. Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is an enhanced version of the original release, with all new content that wasn’t in the original game. It is hand-drawn with a style similar to Spirited Away, or Howl’s Moving Castle. It is absolutely beautiful and has a powerful story.

I completed the game in a few short hours, but truth be told the puzzles and the story had me so engrossed that it seemed like no time had passed at all. I’m not going to go into detail on the story, because a large part of discussing that would be a spoiler minefield. However, I can say for certain that the controls are simple and easy to use, and the gameplay is calm and peaceful. You can explore the game at your own pace, and experience all that it has to offer.

The only complaint I really have in regards to Behind the Frame is its price. At 12.99, the game’s short length makes the price a bit steep. However, with the amount of detail and care that went into the game, I wouldn’t be disappointed if I had paid the full price. Truth be told, Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is a great thing to play on Switch if you’re looking for a calm experience.

I like the idea of controlling the game via the touch screen, just as much as I like using the joycons or a pro controller. In fact, I think the touch screen might make the game feel a little more immersive. If you’re looking for something fun to play, or if you’re looking for an artistic game with a solid story, then Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is a perfect option.

The development team did a fantastic job, and I’m still blown away by the animated visuals. This game is absolutely wonderful, even if the price is a little higher than you might expect. I can see why the game has won multiple awards too, the attention and care that went into it clearly shows.
