Roguelite Vagante Gets Console Release Date

After garnering wide acclaim on Steam with a 90% positive rating, Nuke Nine’s Action-Roguelite Vagante is making its way to consoles. After a successful Kickstarter, five years in development, and an Early Access period, the game will finally be reaching more than a PC audience. In an announcement by indie publisher BlitWorks, it was revealed that Vagante will release on Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles on January 27^th.

The game will be priced at $14.99 USD and will offer multiplayer as well as single-player gameplay. Here is what the press release has to say about Vagante. “Vagante is a very challenging class-based roguelike with emphasis on combat. The art style uses desaturated but warm colors with a bit of a gritty style, influenced by titles like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Vagrant Story.

In the search for an insurmountable treasure, players can join up to 3 other friends locally or online, and face the dangerous dungeons inhabited by fierce creatures and bosses. The quality of the game and the organic growth in the number of players caught the attention of BlitWorks (which has previous experience working on other roguelites with online multiplayer, such as Spelunky 2 and Heroes of Hammerwatch: Ultimate Edition) to port and publish the game to consoles, thus enabling many new players to discover the fascinating world of Vagante.”

I haven’t really been following Vagante’s development much over the years, but I am intrigued after hearing some of the game’s influences. I love a good Action-Roguelike, and with heavy hitters like Final Fantasy Tactics inspiring it, there’s an interesting pedigree there. Hopefully, the console port will be as well-received as the PC version, considering that will expand Nuke Nine’s audience considerably.
