If you’re anything like me, you may frequently (yet unintentionally) forget that Two Point Hospital was published by Sega. It seems Sega may have caught wind of this and subsequently sought to make sure no one draws a blank on that fact going forward. As a bonus, it just so happens that thanks to great timing, this also allows them to simultaneously celebrate their mascot’s thirtieth birthday.

What I’m getting at is that Sega have recently added a free pack of downloadable content to Two Point Studio’s venerable title which contains cosmetic character skins intended for hospital staff. These skins depict Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles. This DLC pack also contains a few cosmetic items that can be placed within any hospital under your jurisdiction, such as a giant statue of Sonic, appropriately-themed posters and palm trees, as well as a massive, spinning golden ring on its own pedestal.

This isn’t the first time Sega-themed items have been added to Two Point Hospital. There’s another free DLC pack for the game on the Steam Store which adds such things as several arcade machines which contain retro Sega titles and can be placed within your medical facilities. The difference between the two packs in question (as far as I can tell) is that the pack which adds the Sonic the Hedgehog character skins was downloaded automatically in my case. By contrast, it seems you have to manually claim the game’s other free DLC packs.

It wouldn’t sit well with me if I concluded this article without mentioning Two Point Studio’s upcoming game, Two Point Campus. As you might expect given its title, Two Point Campus takes its predecessor’s trademark humorous outlook on medicine and transplants it into a venue fit for higher education. Two Point Campus is currently slated to release sometime in 2022, and I am most certainly excited for it. Considering the existence of this Sonic-themed DLC, I can’t help but wonder if the studio’s new title will feature a class that teaches its pupils how to go fast.
