Another month, another Prime Gaming article to get going, as I look in dread at what I write every month on end, and hate myself for doing every time. Nevertheless, I do actually enjoy what Prime offers, I think it is a great deal, but Christ do I hate telling you that GTA Online is still offering 400k for logging on and giving “free access” to a property. Meanwhile, Red Dead Online claps its hands and spins in circles offering treasure maps, 40% off fast travel, and a free saddle worth $200 (or $25 in real money, probably). Before moving on, I should note that if you are here before August the 4th, you can still pick up Battlefield 1 (Manchester United nil) with your Prime subscription.

The latest season (5) of Fall Guys is here, and with Prime you can pick up the beetle buddy costume and 6.5K in Kudos. League of Legends players can pick up the three latest skin shards, while Valorant players can pick up the “Can’t Teach That” spray. For the time being. Guild Wars 2 fans can pick up the Booster pack and Mini Pet, with XP and other boosts alongside a bag. Those being electronically mugged by Genshin Impact can pick up the first Prime Gaming bundle. Finally, before we head to the first game of the month, Last Day on Earth: Survival has reset, offering the same offers again (kind of).

Usually, it is the Epic Games Store that pulls out the big guns, despite all this it turns out Prime can pull out a few punches in the metaphorical fight; A battle, if you would. Yes, this was about the time EA had no six-year-olds to tell them how numbers work, as they went from Battlefield One to Battlefield V, which is set in World War 2. Nonetheless, remember when people were angry that EA broke the run of angry gruff men with guns walking to the camera on the box with a woman? That is this one, and it is kind of fun as most Battlefield games are, with lots of people all shooting the nipples off me in three-point five femtoseconds.

Players of Rainbow Six Siege can pick up another round of the 7-day Renown Booster, and those playing SMITE can get a gummy worm version of Medusa. Those playing World of Tanks can get a Fresh Look bundle, which features a skin for a tank with caution tape all over it and an “aim here” sign. Those playing Apex Legends ahead of Seer’s arrival can pick up the Crypto Dragon skin, which I think that’s the online name of Vape Lord. Meanwhile, FIFA 21 players can pick up the 8th Prime Gaming pack, as Madden NFL 21 players can get pack 11 in their bundle. For the time being, you can also pick up the Piggy Bank Smash for Word Farm Adventure.

Releasing in 2015 as a sequel to 2010’s Lost HorizonLost Horizon 2 is an odd little point-and-click adventure game set under the shadow of its mother putting up an iron curtain. As I read a James Patterson novel, all I am seeing from the plot synopsis is “a British soldier has to protect his family as the US and USSR rip each other to bits.” From that, all I am getting is that it is a thriller story for the 40-50-year-old men of the audience. That’s not a bad thing, but it lacks that mental adventure game logic, as if the designer drinks chlorine for breakfast.

Everyone can music in Magic Tiles 3 as it continues to kick music to death, while World of Warships Legends players can get the summer supplies. World of Warships players can also get the Dutch Commander bundle and premium cruiser Emden pack. Next is an odd duckling here, but there are two listings for the mobile game House Flip, with the Prime Premium Pass ending in late December, and a bi-weekly trinket offering that is currently a Summer season décor set of wind chimes. Players of Epic Seven can pick up the late bundle, with 20 Leif, 1-million gold, and 1 tera-phantasma.

Speaking of the dad thriller, Indiana Jones is a series I’ve never been too excited about. However, those with Prime can pick up the 1992 game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, which I think was canned after five seasons. Ok, Stargate Atlantis jokes aside, because I’ll just start talking about Jason Momoa’s chest for far too long for it to be comfortable. As another point-and-click adventure from LucasArts, it was highly reviewed for the time, but this is also the year Alone in the Dark and Night Trap was released. Take the 8 and 9 out of 10 scores with a pinch of salt.

Those playing Warframe can enjoy the Redeemer Verv pack, with those enjoying RuneScape can get the Prime Beach crab pet, an Umbral Chest, and membership. As usual, players of Sea of Thieves can pick up a flag, hull, or another cosmetic part of the game. Legend of Runeterra players can get another Epic Wildcard, Rogue Company players can get the penultimate drop in an Atlantic Ocean wingsuit, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players can pick up the Druidic Settlement bundle.

It seems August is point-and-click adventure month, for the most part, with the 2006 adventure game from Ravenscourt, Secret Files: Tunguska. Set up as a mystery based on an explosion a hundred years prior and followed by a further 2000 bombs referred to as “Hiroshima bombs,” you stumble around in central Siberia trying to solve the regular adventure game logic. Which is to say, you need to drink copious amounts of alcohol or ingest some kind of deadly gas to the point you go doolally.

Those playing Paladins this month can also pick up the Carnival Ying skin, as those playing AxE: Alliance Vs Empire can pick up the latest Prime bundle. War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, the world’s longest title with no semblance of telling you what it is, is offering Summon tickets, Event and Story Skip tickets, and other nonsensical mobile microtransaction offerings. V4 is offering special support packages and rare things such as companions, mounts, and pets. Destiny 2 is offering the Merciless Exotic bundle, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang players can pick skin and hero trial cards.

From point-and-click adventures to 2.5D ones, Planet Alpha is a sci-fi offering that we’ve seen before, either here or on the Epic Games Store. I think both at this point. It is an endlessly gorgeous game in a screenshot, but for the life of me, every time I look at one I have to ask myself where the character is. Maybe not on every shot, but as a still image, it may take a few seconds for you to pick out the game’s lead character. In motion, it is nothing all that special, if you ask me. It is pretty, but you can say that about most games with some effort put into them these days.

MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2021 players can once again pick up in-game currency and boxes, while those somehow enjoying Ludo King can pick up a new theme and 7-days voice chat. A new one to the ranks of Prime, Aion Classic is offering players Siel’s Aura for three days. Meanwhile, Dauntless players can pick up the Arcslayer Mortar Spear War Pike bundle. That is everything offered this month for in-game loot and other such. Onto the rest of the total of eight games this month.

I say eight, one of them is something you may already have, and this time around it is coming with the sequel. I quite enjoyed A Normal Lost Phone, despite being less of a game and more an interactive graphic novel. Nevertheless, I always tell people to “play” it without looking anything up. I quite enjoy it, so I’ve ignored everything I can about Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story, as I enjoy and trust Accidental Queens’ storytelling. Both are quite short, but ultimately, I think it is worth it to play through that one-hour and thirty-minute plot.

Finally, a game that was released last year about a bug’s life, Metamorphosis is a story-rich puzzle platformer. Which is to say that you’ll climb through a world that is filled with bottles and otherwise that are three times your size, but told to stop from time to time so the game can tell you what is going on. I love these types of games, where you get to see the world through the eyes of something so small, that sense of scale is everything to me. If I find the time this month, Metamorphosis will be one of those I am looking to play.
