In a world where Call of Duty dominates the FPS military genre, Battlefield is wildly underrated. There’s a lot to love about this iconic series. All in all, it’s a great game franchise that features large-scale battles that continue to change how you approach multiplayer shooters. With the new game building to 128-player matches on certain game modes, next-gen consoles are going to really be put to the test. Xbox seems to be up to the challenge, and DICE and EA named it the official console of the upcoming game.

Xbox Series S and Series X are the “official consoles of Battlefield 2042,” according to DICE and EA. The companies announced a slew of partnerships for the upcoming title in order to achieve the optimum experience. The devs intend on making the game just as fun on PlayStation 5 and PC, but Xbox will take things one step further. While we don’t know how the partnership will work in terms of actual boosts or content add-ons, we know the Xbox will be the “optimum” way to play.

Battlefield 2042 launches on October 22nd for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. While the franchise is definitely less profitable and successful than Call of Duty, it’s a really unique experience. I think the large-scale battle additions and dynamic weather will make this game the best one yet. Let us know what you think about the upcoming release in the comments! Likewise, let us know what console you plan to play the game on come October.
