I am like a kid at Christmas right now: Sleepless, filled with drugs (caffeine and sugar), and impatiently waiting for all of this to get started. I love E3, I do. However, this year has been a little different. We’re in the second year of all digital showcases, and the first proper E3 of all digital showcases. I think it would be fair to say, all the details over the last two to three months have been drip-fed to us all, and in some cases, it all feels last minute.

Nonetheless, this week, ahead of the showcases on the weekend, the E3 schedule was released. We’ve all been running around like headless chickens trying to figure out who’s covering what. It is a bit of a strange one this year, as we don’t kick things off with EA and their corporate sports sponsorship thing that puts all of us to sleep. Oh, it is very nice for those that wear suits and ties, but to us normal people, it is dull. Instead, we’re kicking things off with Ubisoft Forward and their pre-show first thing in the morning (local time).

Saturday is a bit of a weird one, as there are only three showcases, Ubisoft, Gearbox, and “GamesBeat session” whatever that is. It is Sunday when we get all the interesting bits, with 24 Entertainment first, and Xbox/Bethesda going on early at 10 AM (pacific time), followed by Square Enix talking about Final Fantasy XVI possibly. That leads into a showcase by Warner Bros doing a Back 4 Blood exclusive showcase. I wouldn’t want to touch Joanne Rowling’s nonsense either, quite frankly. Following that, we’re getting the PC Gaming Show, hopefully with a bit of pep in their step with a 90-minute showcase. That will lead us into a new addition, the Future Games Show. Think PC Gamer’s PC Gaming Show but whatever GamesRadar has up its sleeves.

Monday is just a weird collection of everyone and their mother getting their showcases. Verizon is hosting a show for about 40-minutes, followed by Intellivision (yes, them). Then Take-Two will do an EA, probably. Following that, I had to look up Mythical Games and found they are doing some NFT nonsense, so they can get right in the bin, as far as I’m concerned. At noon (pacific time again) we’re getting a 30-minute indie showcase, followed by Freedom Games. Following that we’ve got whatever VENN is, Capcom will show off the very little they have, and Razer will show off hardware that falls to dust after 10-minutes.

Tuesday, a big hitter joins the stage again, as Nintendo will kick off their Direct and all-day long treehouse live thing at 9 AM (pacific time). That will be followed by BANDAI NAMCO at 2:25 PM. Another small publisher getting a showing is Yooreka Studio at 3:20 PM for 15-minutes, GameSpot’s Play For All showcase is set to go for about an hour following that, and we get the E3 2021 awards after that. That’s a lot of showcases, and so far I’m down for covering three of them.

Our coverage of the showcases will start Monday, with full rundowns of everything at the showcases we’ve set out to cover. As I said earlier, we’re tight on time and still working this out. Though, if you want more on E3, this week Alexx wrote up some predictions on what might be show throughout the showcase.
