Rockstar Games is a well-established studio, but we’re getting to Skyrim levels of repurposing an old game here. The historic and well-received Grand Theft Auto V is a good game in my eyes, but am I going to buy it for the third time? Honestly, in a moment of weakness, I might. Rockstar is betting on people like me to triple-dip on this PS3/Xbox 360 era game for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 when it releases its next-gen version of the game this November.
Rockstar announced in a press release that GTA V is going to release on the newest consoles with updated graphics and performance later this year. The game is slated to release on November 11th. The release will come with a few additions to GTA Online as well. In honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto III, the studio promises more fun surprises to share, including some specifically for GTA Online players.
Speaking of, GTA Online is going to be expanding its missions in Los Santos in the coming months. The additional content will introduce an underground racing scene that brings new cars to the game mode. The real announcement I’m waiting for is a new Grand Theft Auto entirely. The fact of the matter is that the most recent game is still making the company money. It’s wildly popular and lucrative, so what’s the rush if you’re the studio?
