There is a wild amount of love pouring out for Demon Slayer right now. The newly released film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, is now the best-selling anime film worldwide of all-time. It’s no small feat to dethrone a titan like Spirited Away, but the popular manga and anime series did it. Now, the upcoming game is throwing more hype towards fans by adding a new slew of characters to the upcoming game, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Keppuutan.
The game will feature a story mode as well as a versus mode. Like a lot of the anime video game tie-ins, the fighting elements will be a fun way to move the animation of the anime into the gaming world. Preview streams of gameplay make the fights look almost just as good as the anime if not better. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, it’s essentially a tale of two siblings looking to find a cure to demons that plague feudal Japan.
There’s a lot to love about these types of fighting games. In particular, a great anime fighting game will feature tons of room to create fictional clashes. For example, we see the latest addition of Shinobu Kocho as a fun tie-in, but you can have her face off with other protagonists of the series. Others announced for the game so far include Sabito, Makomo, Sakonji Urokodaki, Giyu Tomioka, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Tanjiro Kamado, and Nezuko Kamado.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Keppuutan will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in 2021 in Japan. A worldwide release is expected to follow for those that are outside of the region. If you’re interested in the game, then let us know in the comments!
