Is anyone else getting déjà vu from reading this article’s title? I ask because some among our readers may remember that I covered this exact topic with nearly the exact same title last year. Even so, it seems Valve has suffered yet another leak concerning the dates of an upcoming, prominent Steam sale. According to the wizards over at SteamDB who are ever so skilled in the art of predicting and leaking Steam sale dates, the members of SteamDB actually weren’t the first to acquire and publicize the dates for this year’s Summer Sale.

Instead, they claim that Valve sent a supposedly confidential email to game developers and publishers containing the dates during which 2021’s Summer Sale will be active. At least one person on that mailing list then promptly leaked the relevant information, which is when SteamDB was able to pick it up and broadcast it to a much wider audience. That’s how I found out about the leak.

I’ve always wondered how Valve has essentially consistently had the dates of the biggest Steam sales of each year leaked ahead of time year after year, and yet doesn’t appear to have ever lifted so much as a finger in an effort to stop such leaks. Of course, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. If anything, this information having been leaked so far ahead of time gives the legions upon legions of Steam users (myself included) time to prepare their wallets for the coming sale-induced devastation.

Anyway, I suspect you’re probably just reading this article because you want to know when and for how long this year’s Steam Summer Sale will bear down upon us. I’ve kept you waiting long enough. According to the previously linked tweet from SteamDB, 2021’s Summer Sale will begin on Thursday, June 24th, 2021, and conclude exactly two weeks later on Thursday, July 8th. As has been the case with every Steam sale (of the Summer variety or otherwise) that I can remember, I think we can reasonably expect 2021’s Summer Sale to start and end at exactly 10 am Pacific time on those dates.
