“Snow no!” “You’ve got snow-where to run to,” and other snow-based punnery I’d normally be too professional to include if it wasn’t our last week. Snow, it is all the rage around this time of the year, and I hate it. Though, as has been the case a few times in Dirt 5 (Stylized as DiRT 5), it is great fun to drive on. Well, while Ubisoft gets festive with giveaways, Codemasters is getting festive with the latest update to the off-road racer; adding Christmas decor including trees and those lights that are normally strewn up and down British high streets.
Snowy racing is not the only addition, with the inclusion of candy canes, nutcrackers, gingerbread houses, and a festively wrapped Ford and Porsche, it’s all beginning to look a lot like Christmas. As the trailer for the update states, it is bringing snowy and seasonal playground items. So, those playing with the player-creation suite can now create the snowy wonderlands in the playground arenas in South Africa and Arizona. I think the last time they both saw snow was just after some dinosaurs wished they’d power some cars.
Along with the creation tools and weather effects, there is also a new race in the Arcade mode. It is a sprint around Roosevelt Island, both available in Time Trial and online races. Along with this in the Snow Limits pack, the base of the puns at the start, comes the Ford Mustang GT4 and Porsche Cayenne Transsyberie liveries as part of the livery editor. The pack is available to all players for free with the latest update.
2.0 is now out on PC for (as it seems) many to complain about the fact that a specific system isn’t giving them a good time when the game is loaded. According to the latest patch notes, the update brings performance enhancements, fixes for crashes, and increased player lobbies. The update is also meant to expand the number of wheel set-ups players can now use. It may be out for PC players right now, though Xbox and PlayStation players will see the update in the coming days.
That said, checking the notes and checking the game hours before we publish the article, a bug with the Xbox One version can still happen. Checking the patch notes of previous updates, there is a noted minor fix for consoles. However, in the “Prioritise Frame Rate” option photo mode can and does still crash following your exit. That still exists, along with a number of graphical glitches while in the mode itself.
