We knew that EA Play was coming for Xbox Game Pass this year. Many assumed it would be later this year. As it turns out, that’s still true for PC gamers. Console gamers, however, will get their hands on the large library of EA games this November. Here’s the latest update from Microsoft on the addition of the service to Game Pass.
Starting November 10th, EA Play will be available on Xbox consoles, including Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Beginning in December, members with an Ultimate or PC subscription will be able to download and play games from the EA Play library on Windows 10 PCs. If you read carefully, you’ll see that it seems as if EA Play won’t come to basic Game Pass subscribers. That might get clarified later but it seems clear.
EA Play includes a wide variety of games ranging from sports titles to classic series. Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Titanfall are among the top series included in the service. Likewise, you can play Madden, FIFA, and other sports titles published by EA. You’ll also get a sweet 10% discount on buying EA games with the service. Many new EA games also come with a 10-hour demo for EA Play members.
This is one of the latest updates to Xbox’s offerings that attempt to keep Microsoft competitive with Sony. It’s tough to do that when the PS5 is going to boast an insanely deep title lineup. Still, it’s nice to see at least some effort to stay relevant from Xbox. Hopefully, it means better things for all gamers to have two companies working hard to adapt and improve.
