Since it’s a bit of a challenge to get out of the house right now, musicians are confined to their own space to create content. Several have been doing so with live shows via social media, writing tons of music with all of the off-time, etc. Project Renegade is joining the mix by creating a music video acoustically for their song “Respirator”. This interpretation of the song is on the softer side, but still packs the emotional punch of the original.

With the vocalist surrounded by lights, the guitarist jamming along, the bassist in a video filter, and the drummer utilizing bongos and a cajon; the spin taken adds grace and spirit to “Respirator,” sounding up there with the best that Evanescence and Lacuna Coil have to offer. Recorded straight off each band members’ phones, the mixing/mastering job done by Petros Vinakos of Destiny Studio Athens brings out everyone’s part clearly and succinctly.

The band’s raw performance is spot-on, not missing a beat and sounding as good as if it were off an album. Being stuck inside for so long can really let thoughts take over, and the band expressed this in the video’s description: “This is a raw, live performance hoping to exorcise all bad thoughts and express all the hidden feelings that are quarantined in our minds.” One has to wonder how many other bands are feeling this way and would benefit from this outlet.

Off the heels of their 2019 debut LP Order of the Minus, the band definitely has the time to expand their discography. Perhaps they will include more acoustic renditions like this one, seeing as it has been executed so swiftly by the act. Regardless, Project Renegade has been working hard throughout these rough times and will undoubtedly reach new heights if they keep persisting their pursuits with treasures like this.
