There’s one week left on the 4th season pass for Apex Legends. As it starts to close out (and as I desperately clear some last challenges), the new season was formally announced with a cinematic trailer and backstory trailer leading up to it.

The game’s new character is Loba, a master thief who was actually the daughter of the parents that Revenant mercilessly murdered in his trailer. With a grudge in her heart, she infiltrates a facility underneath King’s Canyon that keeps Revenant’s original form hooked up. This area could previously be temporarily accessed as an easter egg in certain locations.

She fails to destroy Revenant’s original form, but she does end up destroying the facility. This results in the destruction of Skull Town, a popular part of King’s Canyon, and this may carry over as a map change in the coming season, similar to the destruction of the city in World’s Edge for last season.

Unlike Revenant and Forge, who had their abilities leaked ahead of time, Loba’s is currently up to speculation. However, the cinematic trailer seems to hint at what she can do. She carries around a small device that allows her to teleport herself to wherever she throws it, which she readily demonstrates in the cinematic trailer.

It’s somewhat comparable to the teleportation device carried by the hacker Sombra from Overwatch. Another thing she does in the trailer is to teleport an enemy’s gun into her hands. I would be surprised if this was not an ability she has, given her role as a master thief. I would say that the teleporter could be her active while the gun-stealing is an ultimate, since the latter seems more debilitating.

We can obviously expect Loba and a new season pass, as well as a likely map change. Alongside those things though, “quests” will also be introduced in Season 5. While still somewhat vague, the official site says that it’s a “hunt for treasure and answers,” so it may be something relating to the narrative side of Apex Legends. We can only speculate for now, but we’ll get to see more soon when Season 5 officially drops on May 12th.
