We all know Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming this Friday. A lot of reviewers are listing they have hit serious play times already. A few popular reviewers in the gaming journalism world are reporting days worth of play ahead of the highly anticipated Nintendo release.

There are a lot of fans who know now is the perfect time for Animal Crossing to release. With many across the country and world being asked to practice social distancing, it seems like a great opportunity to dive into New Horizons. There are a lot of people who likely imagined spending a ton of time playing the game as is. Now, they have time to play since it’s recommended people stay home as often as possible.

If you haven’t played Animal Crossing, then these reports might seem insane. One reviewer, for example, has already played New Horizons for 80 hours over the course of 17 days. More interesting reports say that after all that time playing, reviewers are still not bored, tired, or out of enjoyment. They are experiencing what many of us assumed: New Horizons is a perfect modern Animal Crossing experience.

The Nintendo release schedule for 2020 is relatively quiet. After this, a few releases here and there will close out a relatively quiet calendar year. The game is likely going to help sell Switch consoles, including an adorable Animal Crossing special edition bundle. The game is an international hit and fans have loved making homes with cute animal neighbors since 2000. It’s one of the last major series to hit the Switch, as Nintendo looks to pivot towards the second half of the Switch’s life cycle.

Coming soon is likely a Switch Pro, plus more information about game releases for the next few years. We still await Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3, so the Switch is far from dead. Still, it’d be nice to get more info about future releases. For now, we patiently await New Horizons on March 20th.
