It’s been a kind of slow week, well aside from more cancellations to events as a result of rising coronavirus fears, but we did cover some news. On Monday, David spoke about the new character coming to Mortal Kombat 11. On Tuesday, I spoke about all the sex Red Dead 2 characters were having and how Take-Two didn’t want to be their pimps. On Wednesday, Jaydyn spoke about The Witcher season 2 going into production. Then finally, on Thursday, Taylor covered the new Samurai Jack game announcement following 16 years from the last video game adaptation of the series. It was not really a week to sit and talk about the news, more one to skim over and talk about something else.

So on to the Epic Games Store. This week it is offering InnerSpace, a game entirely about doing what you did in ABZU and all the other arty 3D platformers for those that smoke a little bit too much of a plant. There is not really much else to say about it because its whole premise is being in a relaxed mindset mindlessly collecting things, like a boring version of Animal Crossing. I’m not wholly down on InnerSpace, I just didn’t care for collecting all the relics it wanted me to, only to be told about the history of people I wasn’t invested in.

I’m never shy from talking about this, but I never complete these games that crop up on Epic every week. I have lots of work to get done, and this was just another two hours I sat thinking about that. I think the reason I’m not cheering InnerSpace across the finish line is that I kept thinking of something else I could be doing instead of being engrossed in the game itself. It’s hardly a problem that will be fixed.

All this week, InnerSpace is available for free on the Epic Games Store, specifically until the 5th of March at 8 AM PST. On the 5th we’re heading headfirst back into the double bills with indie procedural platformer and rogue-like/lite GoNNER, a game that would win the Steam Indie bingo. GoNNER will also be joined by Offworld Trading Company, a fast-paced RTS about colonizing Mars and probably killing off other corporations trying to encroach on your interplanetary mission to rule Mars, once you kill Matt Damon and shovel him off the planet.
