One of my favorite bands of the 2010s is The Color Morale, a metalcore act from Rockford, Illinois. With a strong lyrical emphasis on hope, steadfastness, and persistence, the band inspired thousands going through struggle, myself included. Albums like Know Hope and My Devil in Your Eyes are staples of the genre, delivering crushing, in-your-face riffs and a mix of graceful clean vocals with ruthless uncleans.

The act formally announced their hiatus in early 2018 after ten years of meaningful, breakthrough efforts. Drummer Steve Carey is now with Senses Fail, Garret is an avid BMX-er, Devin King got married, etc. While the band did not officially break up, the hiatus definitely seemed permanent for a while, as all of the members have a lot of great things going in their life that aren’t The Color Morale.

Lately, though, Garret has been quite active on Twitter, posting a vocal feature displaying that he hasn’t lost a beat, and posting a cryptic tweet that could be the tracklist for a new Morale album. What inclines me to believe this is the fact that Garret is retweeting every fan response to the tweet, indicating that we should very well get our hopes up. On top of this, his pinned tweet is the Spotify year in review, commenting, “I think it’s time to get back in the booth yeah?

I welcome the idea of new The Color Morale music with open arms. The band may have deviated from their sound over the years, but never lost the message to Hold On, Pain Ends. I have tons of memories of forcing my way to the front to get as close to Garret as possible to shout his words back to him. Some of the toughest obstacles of my life so far were quelled with The Color Morale as my soundtrack. If we are indeed in for more Color Morale, I will report on the news with great joy.
