CD Projekt Red has been hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077. However, that has not stopped them from providing new content to their Gwent Card game, which has grown in popularity over time. Yesterday, fans of the card game were given an announcement of a new event, which brings the world of The Witcher to a more…festive mood.

Here is a brief rundown of the event, sent to us via press release. – “The holiday event, will run until January 9th, 2020, introduces a free Winter Game Board and the title of ‘Midwinter Wanderer’. This new board features regular opportunities to win special presents by destroying possessed snowmen who randomly appear across the festive battlefield. Presents include cardbacks, resources, borders, avatars — as well as the chance of an ultra rare item.

Additionally, until January 2nd, players can take part in a special Yule Challenge, which will require you to support either Santa Crach or the Wraith of Yule. By completing specified challenges and quests during the event, players will earn reward points and contribute to the point tally for whomever they chose to side with.

According to the press release, “XP boosts will be given out to participants once the Yule Challenge is over, based on which side emerges victorious.” That XP boost will give people an incentive to take these quests and challenges head-on.

Also, as part of the festivities, the in-game store will be updated with a number of limited-time options for purchase. These will include packs containing Ultimate Premium Kegs and Mirror Shards, as well as winter-themed ornaments, titles, borders, avatars, and a special Christmas leader skin for Crach, an Craite.

The developers have also mentioned that a winter sale will also run during the event where select expansion-themed items will be available for 30% off, every weekend until January 6th. Fans of Gwent should really check this event out. It is live now! What are you waiting for?
