It isn’t often I’ll say this, so soak it up while we can, I’ve played four of the five games available this month already. I mean, that doesn’t mean I like them all, much like the GTA Online, Runescape, mobile phone games, Twitch Sings, and really anything that isn’t those games, I don’t care. I get the same distant look in my eyes while writing, that long-term married couples get when talking about their dreams or a really tricky poo. What’s that? Four whole mobile games with loot that is of as much interest to me as a pensioner’s hip bone is too Niko Bellic, let’s get them out of the way first.
Much like last month, throughout December, there will be two-week periods between content releasing for King of Fighters ALLSTAR. Much as before, you’ll have a couple of drops throughout the month to collect for this one all starting and ending on: the 2nd through 16th, 16th through 30th, and the 30th of December until the 13th of January 2020. Those would be drops four through six in this particular collection.
The second mobile-thing is Fortress M, I’ve never heard of it either. By the looks of it, it is Worms if it was very popular in Korea and made for babies to jab at on an iPad. Nevertheless, starting yesterday was the second of few drops releasing this month, though dates are hard to pin down. On Amazon’s own Twitch Prime linked pages, I’m seeing that this second drop started on the 2nd of December and the 25th of November. Given the Twitch site’s own “Twitch Prime Loot” drop-down menu says the 2nd; I’ll assume that also ends on the 16th. Then from there, we’re following the same pattern above.
PUBG Mobile, is next for those who have not heard enough about Call of Duty Mobile. Though I can take solace in the fact that this is the last of the PUBG Mobile loot I’ll have to write about this year. For the final loot drop, Amazon and Twitch have gone all out on the “Epic Level Black Magma Parachute,” Yeah, I’d rather play anime worms if I’m honest. Nevertheless, it is a 30-day token allowing you to redeem the parachute, though you’ll have to be quick as this offer ends on the 12th of December.
The last of the mobile gaming loot is Mobile Legends Band Bang, a League of Legends-style game for iPads and phones. If you have been quick to this article you’ll be able to pick up the fourth drop out of nine total. If you didn’t make the December the 4th deadline for the end of the fourth drop, then grab either the fifth or sixth loot drop in this offer; starting and ending on the 4th – 18th and 18th – 1st of January respectively. The loot for Mobile Legends Bang Bang includes heroes, skins, and effects across all three drops.
Shall we continue into things I’ve never touched with a ten-foot barge pole? I think we shall! If you’re playing Dauntless, there is currently a Harvest Moon weapon skin along with several components of a supply pack. Though, once again you’ll have to be quick on this one; as it will disappear on the 5th of December.
Well, I’ve said December more times than I’ve said the name of that bloke that’s enshrined in stain glass windows while playing Dark Souls. So it is only right that Twitch Sings would be celebrating with a skin for whatever Twitch Sings is. This time it is a snowman outfit, and I’ll take the educated guess that it will be a Mr. or Mrs. Claus outfit next time. This offer ends on the 16th of December.
Rage 2 is looking all jolly after all those reviews were a little down on it earlier this year. In the limited time offer you’ll get, one rocket launcher skin, and two shotgun skins. All three will be wrapped in a paper-like style of festive wrapping making them more joyous than many found the game. This offer ends on the 20th of January, stretching the meaning of limited time but for those that want to celebrate (mostly Christmas) all year ’round and do so with these skins; have at it, I say.
PS4 exclusive loot arrives in the form of CONTRA: ROGUE CORPS. It’s just another skin thing, which is what your mum would call my little chap when we were around some company. Yes, do you want to dress your panda like a 19th-century mechanical undertaker that just happens to be a panda? Well, you might want to get the CONTRA: ROGUE CORPS loot from your Twitch Prime subscription before the 12th of December.
Once again, you and I meet again GTA and RDR2 Online, how I wish you’d move on and let me write about something interesting. Yes, like the time before, and the time before that; you can get a little bit of in-game currency, free access to the Fort Zancudo bunker and hanger, discounts on premium items, and a discount on shark cards from select retailers. The same could be said for RDR2‘s relevant and similar content. I’ve spoken about this for months now, I think you can tell when I’m done talking about it, and that was three months ago.
If you’re yearning for a pirate adventure with some people; Twitch also has some loot of that this month too. If you’re still playing Sea of Thieves, how? I would also like to know why? That many friends on the other end of big bodies of water? Anyway, to traverse that water you’ll want the Celestial ship livery set, a purple ship skin that includes sails, hull, figurehead, and a flag. You’ll also get a collection of emotes, as well as a purple monkey. This offer ends on the 7th of January.
If you’re a fan of MMOs in the traditional sense, Twitch has you set for a “limited time.” This is another liberal use of the word limited, as all three are available until May. I’m going to love talking about these for months on end. World of Tanks, World of Warships, and TERA all have “limited time” offers on starter packs. However, only World of Tanks is offering loot for veteran players too. As I said, you’ve got lots of time for this one if you’re unsure about getting into an MMO over the holiday period.
For those that have been keeping up with their Rocket League loot content, you’ll be onto the third loot drop of this partnership. If you’ve been keeping up, you should be picking up the streamer boost, luster animated decal, and webcam topper for your cars. Then on the 19th, you’ll be able to pick up the 4th (and seemingly final) drop of cosmetics such as: a tactical nuke goal explosion, sushi board player banner, and a boba drink antenna.
If you’re thinking about playing RuneScape or Old School RuneScape, then you’ll want to pick up the 14-day membership now. Ending on the 10th of December, you’ll be able to join in on member-only quests, skills, and minigames.
Then finally! If you want to look like you’ve just fallen out of a remake of Threads that has a budget but no art director, you’ll want to pick up the Wolfenstein: Youngblood bundle. A one-time partnership, the bundle offers armor, gun skins, a hatchet, and a knife decked out in worst camo next to luminescent yellow on a green background. This offer ends on the 30th of December, so you’ll want to get it before everyone starts drinking more alcohol than an Irish stereotype.
So to the games! My favorite bit of every month, because either I’ll be as happy as I am right now that someone will play something good, or I’ll be disappointed like usual. The first of which is the only game I’ve not played at all, and given I know little about it I’ll link to Alexx’s review of ToeJam & Earl for you to get a better opinion on that one.
The next is a colorful Metroidvania-style puzzle game about color and the hue of everything in a world of grey. Hue is a simple little game that isn’t too interesting but isn’t too gaudy about it either. It is a harmless little scamp doing its own thing and doing it because it wants to, I’d suggest giving it a go when you get the chance.
Ahh! You young whippersnappers don’t know how good you have it, knowing the name of a game upon its full release. I knew this one back when it was called Carried Away, however, now it is called When Ski Lifts Go Wrong because it is a game about when lifts for skiers go a bit wrong. It isn’t not going to win a prize for an interesting name; but is wins the Kojima award for naming things nonetheless. It is just a simple little bridge constructor game with a bit of a snowy feel to it, and you can control the skiers as they do jumps and flips. I like it.
Hover is a game that left me wondering what it was for a moment, then I saw the screenshot. Hover is/was a game entirely about the movement of the player that I played a year ago now, at least. Stylistically it is wonderful and makes me think of the PS2-era of gaming just exploding with color like this, however, the PS2 also had Spider-Man 2 which made us talk about movement in this way in the first place.
The final game is one that I genuinely loved, not because it was great at what it does, but it showed me that Xbox GamePass is worth it. If you asked me if I’d pay full price to experiment with a Sherlock Holmes game in 2018-19, I’d have called you mad. However, that feeling of freedom to experiment with a game trying to be a detective game, makes me want to try things I’ve written off before. I’ll still not play a Kingdom Hearts game if you pay me, but I’ll experiment a little more. Hence why I’m saying you play a bit of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter for a bit.
