Anthem is a troubled game that for the most part has been scrutinized by the majority of the gaming community. Since launch, Anthem has been criticized for its poor story, lack of loot, and holding much of its content for the endgame. While Anthem has its’ share of flaws, the overall gameplay, graphics, and customization are all stunning to behold; and for $5 a month you can now experience Anthem over on Origin access.

EA Origin Access is EA’s gaming service that acts sort of like Netflix, but you can download games for offline use as long as they are in what EA calls “The Vault.” The Vault includes games like Sims 4, Battlefield V, FIFA 20, and most recently Anthem.

I believe that EA is trying to move Anthem a bit more into the limelight; as the looter-shooter’s player base have tapered off since its initial release 6 months ago. Also, back in August, Bioware finally released a large update that included the long-promised Cataclysm events.

EA describes the cataclysm events thusly, “A Cataclysm is a themed, season-long event that offers unique rewards and challenges for its duration, and leaves Bastion changed when it ends.” Cataclysms do not have any level requirements, so you can hop in as soon as you boot up the game. This is a welcomed change as most other looter-shooters like Destiny 2 require its’ player base to reach high-end game levels to participate in its raids.

I am a lapsed Anthem player and I have yet to finish the main story. So now that these new updates have been implemented, a curious player base can access Anthem for an extremely low price at no risk. I think now is a great time to either jump back in or take the plunge of the first time.
