Since the early leaks and later confirmation, that there is a new Need for Speed on the horizon, there have been a few questions that people want answers to. Will it return to the PS2 classic format of Underground, Most Wanted, and Carbon, or will it continue into the Burnout Developer’s open-world Hot Pursuit? Now that the sizzle real trailer is out, we can speculate and confirm several things.

Yes, as I said in the last article, the game will be called Heat. This was a fact that seemed to escape the minds of some over at Dualshockers, though as they said there is an “’80’s flair to it.” However, don’t expect drug smuggling 80’s Vice City from Grand Theft Auto. This is EA after all, and they would like to keep people interested in flashy new things that they can put in the trailer. Which is exactly what they did to an alarming degree, showing very little gameplay.

With that being said, I should return to the question posed a few minutes ago. Heat seems to contain a portion of the PS2 brand of gameplay, customizing your car with spoilers and scaffolding strapped to your car. Meanwhile, it also seems to retain the open-world cops and robbers feel of Hot Pursuit and the early games. Set in a fictional city that seems to be a Florida keys-esque metropolitan area called Palm City, there’s everything you’d expect from a neon logo and some palm trees.

According to the press briefing, Need for Speed Heat will launch November 8th, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, for EA Access members, you will be able to jump on in November 5th, 2019. As has become commonplace, if you are going to pre-order the game you will receive several cars depending on your tier of choice. For the standard edition pre-order you will receive a Mitsubishi Evolution X, for the deluxe pre-orders you will receive, BMW i8 Coupe, Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, some in-game currency, clothes, and reputation points.
