Almost a month ago it was confirmed, after months of speculation, in which I concluded that Nintendo would announce at their Nintendo Direct during E3 that the Nintendo Switch Lite would be confirmed. This second-generation, (if you like that term) of the Nintendo Switch is to be exclusively handheld and one solid unit. Not just that, but it will be cheaper too. Last month when this was announced, I said in chats with several people that this would be perfect for children. Parents are always looking to please their little snot-nosed sprogs with the attention of a goldfish.

My blithe cynicism that often turns out to be right aside, I am personally excited by the Switch Lite. It was the DS Lite I played Pokémon on for hours, going nowhere, just fighting the same random encounters as before. I have a hope this will be the start of another generation of a DS-like range. The under-powered nature of the Nintendo Developer System (or DS for short) made for several fantastic games, none of which match the meth-like addiction I had for Animal Crossing New Leaf. I just love being in so much debt to the raccoon mafia.

Now it seems, ahead of my next bout of debt with Satan’s favorite little pet; I might be paying less to pay a Mr. Tom Nook what I owe him. With the Nintendo Switch Lite being only $199.99 to the original console’s $289.95 – $299.00. However, many storefronts have now opened pre-orders of the Switch Lite ahead of its release this September 20th. The Switch Lite will release alongside the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake releasing the same day.

While the Lite is exclusively handheld, it will be able to connect to any accessories for the original consoles including the joy-cons and pro controller. Though given the smaller size of the console the screen is smaller, but the battery life is longer in exchange (about 3-7 hours according to reports).
