I have spoken of the endless love I have for deals, and in a brief segment of this month’s Twitch Prime content dump, I mentioned what Prime has offered before. Easily one of my favorite games among the releases with Prime was Devil May Cry 1 of the Devil May Cry HD Edition, released last year. Between both Devil May Cry and DMC: Devil May Cry, the former holds up and generally feels better, though this may just be the prevailing PlayStation 2 nostalgia kicking in. It’s not perfect, but it comes from the generation that seemed to do no wrong and is on several “Best of The Generation” lists gaming media tend to publish regularly.

So with last year’s re-release of the HD collection on to the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, it should come as no surprise there is a Switch port coming soon as well. With the successful release of Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 this past March, and several publications giving the game a perfect or near-perfect score, people want a Devil May Cry game. However, some have speculated this will be building toward something else. According to an article on VG247, in a chat with DMC 5’s director Hideaki Itsuno, he said fans should advocate for the series on the Nintendo Switch before Dante is entered into the Smash Ultimate roster.

I can’t say I’m personally excited for Dante in Smash. I’m not a fan of the series, though I’m sure many fans would enjoy his arrival. I am, however, excited that the best Devil May Cry is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime this summer. Meaning you can fight a giant lava scorpion/spider (Phantom) on the go or on the couch. Though one would have to ask if this will be a Resident Evil 7: Biohazard deal, where the game is streamed to your console, or if the PS2 or PS3 HD re-release will be the port coming to the Switch. We will find out soon enough.
