A bulk content drop for Star Wars: Battlefront II is coming, and it’s all about the Clone Wars.

I’m still playing Battlefront II regularly, and largely enjoying it. For those who have started to let their copy collect dust, this may be a good reason to get back into things. As of March 26th, the forces of the Galactic Republic and Separatists take center stage in the drop being called Capital Supremacy. Touted by EA as an immersive, Clone Wars-era authentic experience, the highlight is a new game mode of non-linear ground battles fused with the thrill of invading capital ships and taking them down.

Along with the update, DICE is releasing a new location, Pipeline Junction West on Geonosis, plus the Separatist Dreadnought and Republic Attack Cruiser capital ship interiors, all serving as settings to the dynamic and tactical warfare of Capital Supremacy. Two additional reinforcement units join the battle as well: the Infiltrator class Republic ARC Trooper and Separatist BX Commando Droid.

In the namesake’s game mode, two teams of 20, aided by 12 additional non-human, AI controlled troopers on each side, fight to control a majority of five command posts on the ground. It’s an intense and open-ended conflict, where a wide array of tactics, trooper classes, land vehicles, reinforcement units, and hero characters come in handy. For the first time in any PVP mode in Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), AI ground troops will battle alongside players, which is either going to be great or infuriating.

At release, Capital Supremacy will be playable on Geonosis’ Pipeline Junction West and the two capital ships. This new location features rolling sand dunes, characteristic cliff formations, areas contaminated with toxic waste from the close-by droid foundries, and a mysterious boneyard where you’ll find the remains of large creatures from across the galaxy.

With some cool shots of Anakin and General Grievous leading the marketing, like most things Battlefront II related, it looks great and will require some time behind the controller to see if it lives up to its promise.
