The workplace is where 60% of adults find some form of romance. Whether that is a friends-with-benefits situation, a marriage, or even just a short fling, love is in the air while you’re at work. Now, the development team at Alternate Games is working on a game specifically based around that idea, but with a delightful twist.

Alternate Games has created a Kickstarter campaign for After Work, an LGBTQIA+ dating sim that not only includes adult content but also is inclusive of people with disabilities. A large focus of the game is consent, as well as building boundaries, which sets it apart from other games in the genre:

Here is a snippet of what the Kickstarter page says about After Work: “You work at SPARK, a leading creator of Photography. Each day, you step into the office, sharing space and conversations with a diverse group of co-workers. As connections deepen, unexpected bonds form, blending friendship and potential romance.

Explore the complex dynamics of love and trust, navigating each character’s unique experiences and boundaries. Discover their passions, vulnerabilities, and personal stories, learning what makes them feel safe and valued. Build chemistry while respecting the reality that rejection is always a possibility.”

You’ll have to go to the Kickstarter page itself to read the rest, but you’ll unlock intimate moments with the characters (sexual and non-sexual) while respecting and navigating personal boundaries to build those relationships. In this regard, Alternate Games is creating a realistic (sort of) dating experience that is inclusive of dynamics and demographics that most dating sims avoid.

With Alternate Games being a team founded by people with varying disabilities, I feel a certain kinship with them. I also know that they will handle things respectfully and actively acknowledge the sexuality of disabled people, which is often ignored. At the time of writing, there isn’t a launch date for the Kickstarter campaign for After Work. However, you can go to the page now and save the campaign so that when it goes live, you’ll be alerted. I couldn’t possibly be more excited to see what Alternate Games comes up with.
