The Rumored Oblivion Remake Could Release Soon

The Elder Scrolls VI might not be out for years, but that doesn’t stop Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios from churning out new content. The Elder Scrolls Online turned 10 last year, marking a decade of enjoyable MMORPG gameplay within the developer’s high fantasy world. Another project that is rumored to be on the way, a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, seems to be materializing before our eyes. Rumors from highly reputable sources say it might be booting up on our PCs and Xbox consoles sooner than we think.

According to video game commentator NateTheHate, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion‘s long-rumored remake may arrive relatively quickly. According to the gaming personality and corroborated reporting from VGC, there’s a good chance that it could be out before the summer. This decision to potentially only give a Bethesda Elder Scrolls remake out within just weeks after announcing it might seem surprising. That said, Xbox’s blitz and shadowdrop strategy has worked in the past.

Rumors say the remake was developed in Unreal Engine 5 and includes major game mechanic upgrades and updates. Things like the stealth function in the game could even include new HUD alerts and systems that update the game to the modern day. Originally released in March 2006, Oblivion‘s age is certainly showing without any fan-made mods. Still, the game’s unique story and rich world make it worth a refresh. I know I would love another go at the gladiator life in the Arena District.

Whether or not the rumors materialize, releasing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake is a great idea, considering the wide acclaim Avowed received upon its release just weeks ago. High fantasy RPGs are certainly a hot topic right now, and returning to Bethesda’s portals-to-hell masterpiece seems like a perfect way to capitalize on that.
