When it comes to a great golf experience, I usually go into a round knowing I will leave frustrated. I golf once or twice a year, have a terrible time, and then wonder why I’m not improving. Now, if you told me to build a golf course equipped with amenities, dastardly doglegs, and all the modern fixings of a premiere experience, I would have better luck with that job. I guess we’ll find out who really knows how to build a dream golf course later this year when Under Par Golf Architect launches for consoles and PC.

There are a lot of golf video games, from more arcade-like titles to the latest simulations like PGA Tour 2K25. The task at hand in Under Par Golf Architect is definitely on the more arcade-like side, but there’s also a hefty bit of strategy and creativity you’ll need to hone for success. As you build courses that challenge even the best players, you’ll grow your course’s prestige, attract VIP players, and even hold elaborate tournaments.

Everything from fairway placement to the ruggedness of the rough is yours to mold in Under Par Golf Architect. Of course, the actual courses are a huge part of the experience of playing 18 holes, but not the entire experience. Players will expect bars, pools, restaurants, and even training grounds if they are impressed with your creations. Plus, you’re hoping to turn one-time players into members, increasing the lengths you will need to go to wow them.

For gamers who love golf and never shy away from a strategy sim, this feels like a match made in heaven. From different biomes to ridiculous extravagance like helicopter-only entrances, you’ll need to build a dream course fit for the finest players in the world. The challenge sounds enticing and certainly something I’ll check out later this year when the game releases. Under Par Golf Architect will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
