Wax Heads is coming to Xbox Series X|S

The sun saw fit to rise again, so I guess there was a big-publisher showcase of some games that are being released on its platform. Advertised about as well as a cat being violently sick, you only really hear about the ID@Xbox Showcases after the fact and in my case because it makes a mess of my emails. We first got a look at Patattie Games’ Wax Heads last year during the Wholesome Direct, and then we found out Curve Games would be publishing the title too.

Announced yesterday during the ID@Xbox Showcase, the release window was reaffirmed and a new platform was announced. “Curve Games is excited to announce that Wax Heads, the highly anticipated title from Patattie Games, is officially set for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X/S and Steam,” the press release notes.

There aren’t many more details revealed, with the trailer once again showcasing the art style and what to expect with the gameplay of the running of a record store. Your duties are varied from creating sleeves for your records, suggesting the records for certain people, managing the store to keep vinyl aside for people, and operating a register in a store. I quite like the ideas and look, mostly because it is strange and wonderful.

The press release also notes Wax Heads‘ story and premise for its upcoming release, “Wax Heads is a handcrafted narrative sim that puts players in the role of a passionate record store clerk at Repeater Records, where they must recommend the perfect vinyl for every eccentric customer. Featuring charming puzzles and minigames, punchy dialogue, and a gorgeous comic book-inspired art style, the game weaves an emotional and uplifting story, all set to an original toe-tapping soundtrack.“

While the press release only goes so far as to say 2026 is the release window of Wax Heads, the trailer (linked above) notes a Summer 2026 release. Here is hoping the wait is worth it.
