Devolver Digital picks out interesting games to work on. I’m always curious about what they publish, and they’re usually pretty stellar. Things like Gunbrella are always interesting, if a little unique. Now, Devolver has announced it is working on publishing another unique title.

Developer DeadToast Entertainment and Devolver Digital are collaborating on Shotgun Cop Man, a run-and-gun platformer. You might remember DeadToast Entertainment as the development team behind My Friend Pedro, which I thought was pretty fun. Now, they’re tackling a wild new concept. Here’s what the press release says about Shotgun Cop Man.

“In Shotgun Cop Man you’ll take on the role of the titular lead-slingin’ lawman, descending into the underworld to raise Hell in Hell. Your mission? Arrest Satan.

This is a precision platformer where your weapons are your wings. Shotgun Cop Man’s boomstick and pistol (and other devastating weapons procured on-site) aren’t just used for slaying demons, but traversing the depths of Hell as well. Your diabolical arsenal lets you jump, launch and propel yourself through the game’s challenging, chaotic levels; dodging enemies, leaping gaps and scaling walls.

Conquer a hand-crafted campaign, with bonus No Damage and Speedrun modes for the hardcore, or dive into user-generated levels for endless replayability.”

While we don’t yet have a release date for Shotgun Cop Man, the developers say it will be released later this year for PC and Nintendo Switch. You can also check out a demo now as part of the Steam Next Fest that runs until March 3rd. However, there is no word yet as to whether the demo will be available after the Next Fest is over.

Either way, I’m intrigued by the concept of Shotgun Cop Man. It’s weird, interesting, and overall exactly what I’d expect the follow-up to My Friend Pedro to be. I can’t wait to see more as we get closer to the release date.
