Valve has now publicly announced the dates of the second half of this year’s planned Steam sales, both major and minor alike. They’ve also revealed the dates for 2025’s Steam Next Fests, those glorious occasions when we can all download tons more demos of upcoming games than we could ever realistically play within a week. I shall now cover the deluge of dates Valve has decreed so that we can all plan exactly when we will blow obscene amounts of money on discounted games. I’ll keep this as brief as possible, but here are the details.
Closest at hand as of the date of this article’s publication will be the first Steam Next Fest of 2025. These seven days of demos will run from Monday, February 24th through Monday, March 3rd. The Next Fest will presumably begin and end at 10 AM Pacific Time on those dates. Also on March 3rd, the Steam Visual Novel Fest will commence and it will be active through March 10th. The Spring Sale, the first non-genre-specific sale of the year, will run from March 13th through March 20th. From March 24th through March 31st, the “City Builder & Colony Sim Fest” will take place.
There will be four more genre-specific sale events scattered throughout April and May. Those are as follows: “Sokoban Fest” (April 21st -28th); “Wargames Fest” (April 28th – May 5th); “Creature Collector Fest” (May 12th – 19th); and “Zombies vs. Vampires Fest” (May 26th – June 2nd). Following all of these, things will be relatively quiet for a week. Things will pick back up on June 9th when this year’s second Steam Next Fest begins. That will also run for a week and conclude on June 16th. The Fishing Fest will then begin on June 16th and run until June 23rd.
Three days of quiet will follow the end of the Fishing Fest. We might as well think of this time as “the calm before the storm,” because on Thursday, June 26th, this year’s Steam Summer Sale will make its grand entrance. The Summer Sale and all its copious discounts will bear down upon us for two weeks until the seasonal festivities conclude on July 10th. Then there’s the “Automation Fest” not long thereafter, from July 14th to July 21st. That will be followed by the “Racing Fest,” which is scheduled for July 28th through August 4th.
From August 11th through 18th, we’ll have the 4X Fest, which is likely to be one of my personal favorites. The week of August 25th through September 1st will host the Third-Person Shooter Fest. Following that will be the Political Sim Fest, scheduled for September 8th through 15th. Then comes the Steam Autumn Sale, which is notably earlier than its past appearances. It’ll run from September 29th through October 6th. It seems Valve has realized that the traditional period of two to three weeks between the Autumn and Winter Sales isn’t much time for us to refill our wallets.
From October 13th through 20th, we’ll have the final Steam Next Fest of the year. After that will be the “Steam Scream Sale,” which will hang around to frighten our bank account balances from October 27th through November 3rd. The last minor event in November will be the Animal Fest, taking place from November 10th through 17th. The Sports Fest, scheduled for December 8th through 15th, will be the last minor event for the year. Three days later on Thursday, December 18th, the Winter Sale will begin. As is tradition, it’ll run for two weeks and wrap up on January 5th, 2026.
