Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Receives Localization

It’s always a treat when games are made more readily accessible to wider audiences. As someone who has recently been diving into the universe of Mobile Suit Gundam, I was happy to see this week that Bandai Namco announced a localization for Gundam SEED Battle Destiny. This title was originally released in 2012 on the Playstation Vita exclusively in Japan. Now the game has received not only a localization but a complete remaster. The remastered version of Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Destiny will feature upscaled visuals, a redesigned UI to accommodate for lack of touch controls, and a brand new target lock-on mode.

The core gameplay of Battle Destiny is a hack-and-slash action RPG. Taking on the role of a Gundam pilot, players will align themselves with three major factions: The Earth Alliance, Z.A.F.T, or Archangel, and undertake various missions set within the iconic storylines of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED universe. After each battle, you will upgrade your mobile suits managing stats and gathering better equipment. Gundam SEED is set in the Cosmic Era, an alternate timeline that runs parallel to the main Gundam timeline set in the Universal Century.

As is the case with most Gundam series, the story focuses heavily on war. However, in this universe, the conflict revolves around the tensions between regular humans and their genetically engineered counterparts known as Coordinators who have been gifted with superhuman abilities. Battle Destiny features over 100 different mobile suits to pilot and customize. Players will be able to pilot suits and undertake missions from the main Gundam SEED anime series along with suits from side stories set in the universe like Gundam SEED Astray, and C.E. 73: Stargazer. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered will launch on May 22, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch and PC. Pre-orders are available now though there is no word on any special pre-order bonuses.
