Nomad Idle Demo Available Now

I’m late to the party, but idle/clicker games have taken over all of my playtime on Steam in 2025. Whether it’s the tranquil Chillquarium, the tried-and-true Cookie Clicker, or Rusty’s Retirement hanging out on the bottom of my second monitor, knowing that I’m slowly but surely beating a game without interacting with it is strangely satisfying. When Nomad Idle came onto my screen when perusing Steam’s Idler Fest, I was intrigued. Then it hit me: I’ve been playing this developer’s bullet heaven game, Nomad Survival, so I knew I had to try out the game’s demo that launched last week.

When I think about a demo, I typically resign it to a roughly 10-to-15-minute preview of a game to get a feel for how it performs, what to expect upon release, and enjoy a nice gameplay loop to determine if I will purchase it. In the case of Nomad Idle‘s free demo, it feels like I’m getting the entire game before it launches. As an idler RPG, your character endlessly battles infinite waves of enemies while you watch. You can interact at any time by extending a sword slash with every click, selecting stat upgrades, crafting better equipment, and managing your foxy friend that fights alongside you.

Considering I’ve put three hours into this particular demo, Nomad Idle is going to be an instant purchase when it releases on March 28th, 2025. While idlers tend to have passive gameplay, I found myself clicking for several minutes at a time to earn my next upgrade. There’s very tangible progress to be felt in this game, with tons to unlock and feasibly permanent gameplay. When it comes time for release, expect even more content, making this a mainstay on your secondary monitor or even on the side of your main monitor while you do something else.
