There are some games we all play far too much of, probably for our own good. Before it has even hit its full-release state, I’ve put in hundreds of hours for Door Kickers 2: Task Force North, as I said when we got the update in October on the state of development. Well, KillHouse Games have finally given a release date for the top-down real-time with active-pause tactics game after four and a bit years in early access.

Nothing long, nothing too detailed, it was basically just a trailer and a short statement on the Steam updates saying when the 1.0 release is set to come. February 10th to be exact. The trailer announcing the release date is linked below.

Not really featuring many details to pull from, it is 50% cinematic and 50% real-time gameplay, mostly on easily identifiable levels. There may be a couple of new maps peppered in that aren’t immediately noticeable though. The update that rolled out in October noted an effort to improve the random map generation. The update we got in October also mentioned the campaign and new maps, which are of course set to release with the 1.0 release. So we may have gotten a sneak peek at those.

KillHouse Games’ update back in October notes several additions for this 1.0 release set to come, including the Doctrines finally being added, native workshop support for more than just maps, two campaigns, and the ability to create custom campaigns with custom maps. After more than 600-700 hours in the past two years, I’m excited to see what the team has done to polish off Door Kickers 2. Again, for those who need the reminder, Door Kickers 2 will hit its 1.0 release on Monday, the 10th of February, 2025.
