Monday, relaxed Metroidvania Embroideryvania (try reading that while drunk) got an announcement. Tuesday, after it had already frozen over with the events of Monday, Helskate finally released into its 1.0 state. Like all early access titles that don’t spend seven years in early access, some people are upset about that. Sheffield Wednesday, EA did it, it finally killed off EA Origin, kind of. Well, it will be dead in April.
Moving on to the Epic Games Store it is another one of those early-in-the-year/January games that is artsy-fartsy and pleases me, but I’m sure the people that want GTA V every week or the newest release to be bored by. Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is a puzzle game about a young artist just trying to find something that inspires them to complete their masterpiece. Draw and paint daffodils, that default Windows XP background everyone used, or maybe the nudist neighbors who’ve been married for 50 years. I wonder which one is the joke?
All this week you can pick up Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery on the Epic Games Store until the morning of the 30th of January. Moving on to the offering for next week and it is something that fits more of that survival-crafting, zombie-based, action-orientated thing people keep wanting over story-based puzzles and interesting narratives. Undying (sometimes Undying – Kingdom) is one of those “Big Hairy Dad” games where you’re a parent trying to protect a child, but this one has a twist that I’m sure makes it “Woke:” It’s a Big Hairy Mum game.
