Helskate 1.0 Now Available on Steam

If you’re not kicking Demon Tail while grinding rails, are you really skating? Helskate was immediately a unique take on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater formula from the moment I saw it. Now, after over a year in Early Access, Helskate is fully available on Steam.

That’s right, as of yesterday, Helskate is now in 1.0, with its full set of intended features on Steam. This includes a full implementation of its main quest, as well as new enemies and more. Here is what the press release says about Helskate:

“Following nearly a year of feature updates and improvements in Early Access, Phantom Coast today announced their skateboarding action [Rogue-lite,] Helskate is now available on Steam.

In Helskate, grind, perform tricks, and chain combos to power up your attacks and slay the monsters of Vertheim. Combine unique weapons and gear to suit your playstyle as you fight, die, and upgrade your abilities to come back to this labyrinth over and over again!

Traverse Vertheim as you grind, wall ride[,] and manual your way through this hellscape with classic arcade-style skating. Combine different weapons, gear[,] and tapes to create powerful and unique builds for each run. Get inked up with sick tattoos to permanently upgrade your abilities for a much-needed edge over your foes.

Chain huge combos, do ollies, kickflips, and other awesome tricks to power up your attacks and gain unique abilities and buffs to slay the monsters that await you in this fast-paced skateboarding action [Rogue-lite]!”

In addition to a completed story and new enemies, players will be able to take on a new boss, reach a new area known as GrindGard, and enjoy time at the beach as well. It seems like there is a lot for current Helskate players to enjoy. However, if you haven’t played the Early Access version in a while now might be a good time to come back and play a bit.
