Nintendo Switch 2 Predictions

Well, it has finally happened. After rumors and countless leaks, the Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced. While they have only showcased a small teaser, we know that on April 2nd, 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will show us more. So, in the meantime, why not predict a few things like games coming to the system and the Nintendo Switch 2’s release date?

As far as when we’ll get to play a Nintendo Switch 2, I think that the console itself will probably be released in time for the holiday season. It’s rare for Nintendo to miss out on a good holiday rush, and with the Nintendo Switch selling so well they’ll want lightning to strike twice. It may not be exactly on Black Friday, but I’d expect it’ll be somewhere around November or December.

As for games, I think a few options are fairly obvious. The short teaser (linked above) showed off a brief glimpse of a new Mario Kart game. However, we can also expect (based on sales) new entries in the Animal Crossing and Super Mario Bros. (or New Super Mario Bros.) franchises, as well as plenty of third-party games. We also know that Metroid Prime 4 is on its way, so that is likely to be a launch title as well.

There’s also a heavy possibility that we will see enhanced versions of games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch 2. This is especially likely since there were rumors of outlets getting to play on a Switch 2 last year, and Tears of the Kingdom was mentioned multiple times.

In my wildest dreams, I’d love to see more details about the Okami sequel this year, with a surprise Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. I don’t see it being likely, but considering Okami did well on the Wii, it’d be nice to see history repeat itself.

In any case, we have a lot to look forward to in 2025. I’m excited to see more about the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is nice to finally get details after a year of leaks and rumors. April isn’t that far away, so more details are coming soon.
