Steam and sales go hand-in-hand, as Valve’s gaming marketplace has been considered the best way to buy digital PC games for two decades now. The first game I ever bought on the platform was LA Noire with my very first laptop, and it was coincidentally on sale for a mere $4.99. Ever since I got bit by the bargain bug, my library has become a treasure trove of games I could spend the rest of my life playing. Despite that, each new major Steam Sale is worth perusing for deep discounts, and Steam’s Winter Sale for 2024 is already here, mere weeks after the Steam Autumn Sale.

With that previous sale so fresh in our memory, the Steam Winter Sale may seem redundant, but that coveted holiday money will come in clutch for those who couldn’t afford a certain title just a few weeks prior. Valve has also confirmed a set of titles to receive a sale price, including Sonic X Shadow GenerationsHelldivers 2, and Baldur’s Gate III to name a few. I splurged on the latter at its 20% off offer of $47.99 during the Autumn Sale, and feel this to be a nice price point for one of the best games in recent years.

On top of all the AAA titles receiving sales, don’t forget that all the indie publishers are making their already cheap games even cheaper during the Steam Winter Sale. It’s always worth exploring your wishlist, no matter how big, to see if something you’re excited to play is being sold at a steal of a deal. A tip is to filter by not just Discount, but Price and Review Score to find the diamonds in the rough. For me, I’m eyeing Neon WhiteWobbly Life, and Crab Champions. Whether it be a game sitting on your wishlist for 10 years or a new game getting its first sale, be ready to open that wallet.
