Time is a weird thing, one minute your niece is too young for school, you blink, and suddenly 2011 is long gone and she’s like a whole person that’s practically done with school. It makes you feel sick. Let’s go back to 2011, when things maybe didn’t look so gloomy and we could jump on buying a house in that sweet spot before everything became stupid expensive again (Q4 2012). Or we could virtually do it with U0U Games’ upcoming title about young adults and romance. Ignore the outdated tech by then, and step into the world of Miki in this upcoming visual novel.

Step into Castor Yard’s delightful pixel world as Miki, an environmental designer moonlighting as a part-time online mouthpiece. Strike the keyboard to draft customized responses on behalf of quirky clients and fulfill their odd requests,” as the press release notes in a short description of S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH. Going on to say, “Meet more than 40 endearing characters, forge intimate bonds in both real and digital worlds, and create lasting memories in a non-linear, nine-day adventure.”

Finally given a release date, S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH is set to release in January of 2025. This is what the press release has to say: “S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH, the text-driven visual novel about love, connection, and meaning from developer U0U Games and publisher GCORES PUBLISHING, unfolds an unforgettable story on PC via Steam on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.

Escape into an immersive digital world as Miki, an environmental designer working part-time as a for-hire online mouthpiece. Chat on behalf of clients, fulfill their sometimes awkward requests, and manage key architectural projects with satisfying keyboard strokes. Meet 40+ charming characters in both real and cyber-life, a new form of non-physical existence solely within computational processes.

Make meaningful decisions on behalf of clients in a non-linear nine-day narrative, typing preferred responses and interacting with intriguing characters. Uncover secrets about Miki’s past throughout the journey and discover the hidden connections between cyber-life and Castor Yard, Miki’s home. Build romantic bonds with NPCs and experience the distinctive stories of each individual.

Unravel three different endings in Castor Yard’s stylized pixel world while relaxing to a soothing soundtrack. Interact in realistic conversations packed with joyful memes and jokes, while overcoming the challenges and sorrows of Miki’s life. Piece together the story through flashbacks and connect the dots on the final day to create a memorable finale.

I’m oddly intrigued by S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH, despite trying to put a blend of “retro” on what happened yesterday. I’m not having this “it was 13 years ago,” that is sickening and I don’t like it. Despite my desire to go back in time and get rid of this responsibility I have with being a so-called “adult,” I think the art style of U0U Games’ S4U is what stands out the most, with plenty of detail in the pixel art.

Developer, Producer, and Artist Joy Yang of U0U Games said, “Each conversationalist will type their own stories in S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH. Explore cyber-life and Miki’s real neighborhood after work. Help them find love and connection while escaping the stress and drudgery of everyday life.”

S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH is set to release on January 9th, 2025 on Steam. S4U will also support English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese, the latter of the three seemingly making the most sense with the overall style. You’ll be able to pick up S4U: CITYPUNK 2011 AND LOVE PUNCH on launch for $13.99 (€13.79/no GBP price was listed) with a 10% discount for the first two weeks.
