Strange Seed Signs Publishing Agreement with Slug Disco

There are certain games that you just assume are going to set a genre precedent. These are games that are likely to inspire other games down the line. When Spore was released, I felt like I wasn’t the only one who assumed there would be more creature evolution games. Now, it seems that publisher Slug Disco has signed an agreement with one such game.

This week, Slug Disco has signed an agreement with a Creature Evolution game known as Strange Seed. Developed by Chronicle Games, Strange Seed is a Creature Evolution game that is re-imagined as an RPG journey. Here is what the press release says about Strange Seed and this new partnership:

“Strange Seed recently saw its first demo go live in September 2024, which offers an early look at the first areas of the game and already allows for some amazing creatures to be created. Since the launch of the demo[,] it’s had positive feedback and great suggestions from players and has gone from strength to strength as the team has continued to work on it.

Whilst the small team at Chronicle Games focus on finishing up the game ahead of a 2025 launch, Slug Disco [has] come on board as publisher to help the game reach an even bigger audience.”

I’m always on the lookout for truly unique and exciting games and Strange Seed’s fusion of creature evolution, RPG mechanics and even a hint of the Souls-like formula really appealed to me. You can play Strange Seed’s demo now on Steam. We don’t have much in the way of a release date beyond a 2025 release window, but we’ll find out more as the next few months pass. I’m intrigued by what Chronicle Games is doing, and I can’t wait to see more.
