KOEI TECMO and developer Omega Force will release a free demo for Dynasty Warriors: Origins ahead of the game’s 2025 release date. The demo will launch on November 22nd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The demo will feature the “Battle of Sishui Gate.” Alongside legendary figures from the Three Kingdoms such as Cao Cao, Sun Jian, and Liu Bei, players will slash through massive enemy forces and battle powerful generals in the immersive battlefield.

Recent entries in the Dynasty Warriors franchise have expanded the traditional button-mashing action experience to flesh out strategy elements. Dynasty Warriors: Origins will focus more on the story, putting the player at the center of this historic battle for power. Players will control a protagonist who has lost his memories, but his body still remembers how to fight.
Further growth is essential to survival in war-torn times, and the path forward will be revealed only through countless battles and encounters.

Along with the demo announcement, the developer released a new gameplay overview trailer previewing what’s to come for this upcoming release. As seen below, the trailer shows off gorgeous visuals and a lot of fun elements that expand the Dynasty Warriors experience. Watching things like morale while making strategy calls to the soldiers around you can ensure that calculated risks to win are done in a way that proves your prowess on the battlefield.

On a personal note, I probably put more time into the PS2-era Dynasty Warriors games than most franchises of that period. I love the games, but some of the expanded mechanics and features have fallen a little flat for me. I’m excited to see how this effort shapes up, and after a really gorgeous trailer, I’m feeling optimistic about our next adventure into the War of the Three Kingdoms.
